I’m sorry that I haven’t posted for a while. I hope to do so soon. Meanwhile, please familiarise yourself with the diagram below. It is uncannily accurate. Because your clerks will collect your fees, the issue of when to bill is a matter for them. However, if you want to build a practice by networking with your solicitor and/or your lay client then this information will assist you.
Best to issue a bill at 8.1 when the client still has tears of gratitude in their eyes. They might not then be best able to read the figure at the bottom.
the print is too small for me to read – can i bring a case against you for age discrimination???
happy new year; good to have another post from you.
(I saved the picture then enlarged it on my screen to read the text.)
Lay client relations are one area where I get the impression that having a split profession helps both the solicitor and the barrister – each blaming it on the other guy.
This is according to one of my ex-barrister tutors on the BVC anyway although he puts it more strongly, saying it’s the only reason for the existence of the barrister – to be the solicitor’s ‘fall guy’!
Happy New Year, by the way.
nobody likes a smartarse, mel!
(but thanks for the tip – not sure how you make these new computer machine thingies do that but hey!)
Too true!
Just in case it’s any help – when I left click I get the option to ‘Save image as’ and then I can save the picture to my computer. Although I use Mozilla, so maybe it explorer it’s different…
It’s not that much clearer once enlarged, but just about legible!
